Range and ammo etiquette

I hope this is the right place to post this. I need some help.

My range offers boxes of federal 556 m193 ball at 11.99 (20 rounds)

The only catch is that you can only buy if you are using the range.

What would you do? It's 15 per hour to use the range. Would you go, buy 5 boxes, shoot 5 rounds and walk away? Would you just go home and buy ammo online at an outrageous price? What do I do if I just want to take the ammo home?

I need a good website to get ammo that is fast and reliable. Please help out.

This is just me... but you're going to shoot it anyway, might as well buy some, and use your hour. The deal is to ensure that they have ammo to sell to folks using the range (not to sell range time to people buying the ammo), and considering the scarcity of ammo I can hardly blame them for that.

I'm sorry I can't advise you as what to do. I also understand why that range has that rule and I can understand. I think you should do what you think is the right thing to do...

Basically I can get it 20 bucks cheaper at the store, but I am limited to 5 boxes. Total 5 boxes costs 63.xx at the store + 15 range hour.... 78 bucks... But you see my dilemma.. What should I do? I would just like to walk out not firing a single shot.. would save me a ton of money.. It would basically come out to 14.99 a box... Would you use up at least one box?

I work at a private club. We sell ammo to accommodate our members but our inventory is getting low and we may not be able to restock.

So, our choice is to sell only that which is to be consumed during a range visit or severely ration.

Please, for the good of the cause, follow the guidelines the range has set. It's the right thing to do and you will feel better about yourself.

what about the empties?

It seems brass prices are always going up. If you reload, can you take your brass home? A sufficient amount saved and you could justify buying a Dillion 550-B

It would also depend if the range has set a limit to the number of boxes you can buy. You don't necessarily need to shoot most or all of what you buy. If you have another firearm or two, bring them with so you can shoot something else during your hour.

Is it only if you shoot the 223? Or can u buy the 223 and shoot 22lr? Is that the price when you use the range for that specific ammo or just when you use the range?

To me it depends on the range. It's true that you're going to use it anyways so why not shoot it there however, if the Range is only 25 yards its a waste of ammo

Surely, they don't have a rule saying you have to shoot it all? I'd buy the ammo and plink away with different guns saving most or all of the ammo you need.

CTD is scum. They did the same price gouging in 2008 but most everyone forgot.

We all know the intent of the range's rule on purchasing the ammunition.

Reload and become the master of your ammo supply. Lee has made it affordable for all and it's a dang fun hobby in itself. I seem to get as much satisfaction out of making them as shooting them.

Those people have a business to run. Whatever they need to do to keep the doors open is their perogative. People's ability to feed their families depends on them making sound business decisions. The sub-par nature of your personal ammo stash is not their problem.

You know in your heart what the spirit of their policy is. Do unto others......

The Smart local range just ran out of 9s, but has managed to keep their CCW classes and packed range open because they only sell one box at a time for range use (..long after the other ranges have dried up.) They still had plenty of other std ammo at last visit.
