Blessings and greetings my guns loving friends. I have a question that i have been unable to find discussed in the threads anywhere. In your opinions, what are the best range bags out there? I am looking for value, not necessarily cheapest priced, but best "bang for my buck" (pun intended). :)

I have gone through a number and recently found that the CED compact bag to be the best for my needs. The pocket layout, size and shape worked out well for me for a bag to use at USPSA matches.

Main outer side pocket has pockets for seven magazines as well as an inner slide pocket to hold tools and what not. Two large outer pockets on the opposite side are well situated to hold various items you may take to the range with you. Main compartment has a slot for a pistol sleeve that is included with bag. This compartment will hold plenty of ammunition, eye protection, hearing protection and still leave room for more.

The Midway bag is just excellent. I ride a motorcycle and have to drive through this rock-strewn town with my range-bag packed full of guns and ammo tottering on the back so I can get to my buddies place and transfer everything to the back of his Mitsubishi Stealth so we can motor over to the Queretaro range in style.

The Midway bad holds up to the weight, being thrown around, and holds all the stuff I need to the point I can barely lift it. Most of the guys down here have a black one, and I got the green one. I just love it. Well worth the price. Get the bigger one.

Also, the Midway double-rifle case is a heck of a deal at around 45.00 bucks right now. It carries my '94 Winchester (made in 1913) and my Lee Enfield No. 1 Mk III* side-by-side without letting them scrape each other.

These items are half the price of anything comparable. I highly recommend them.

Plus one for the Midway.Get the large size even if you dont think you need the large you will grow into it!

Another vote for the Midway bags - I got the large one at first, but it takes a lot to fill that one up so I eventually bought the smaller one too which I pretty much use all the time. It is holding up well - I stuff it with ammo and guns about every 2 weeks for the last 2-3 years.

If you get them on sale, they are a real bargain IMO.

I agree on the Midway bags. They are 1/2 price regularly, and are a real bargain. I started with the large one, but then got the smaller one, which is what I use. I use their pistol rugs with the magazine pockets for my pistols, and I use a tool box for my ammo. The open tool holders that have a hard bottom, that you can get at Sears, Lowes, etc are also great for carrying ammo.

Best Wishes,
Tom

another vote for the midway range bag. I have one and its great. It comes with two side pockets with bags to place your handguns in, the bottom of the bag is very durable and wont bend with alot of weight in the bag. Also it doesnt break the bank.

+1 on the Midways. I have both the large and small bags, although the small bag has fallen into the hands of my son so I prolly never see it again. You have to show me a better bag for the price!

I use a leather camera bag that is about 25-30 years old...and it is fine for my needs. I think range specific bags are way over priced.

I have a Dillon range bag in mild blue, however i find the Airline travel bags they use to give you free for flying, years ago, to be just right. It has a slot on the side to carry all your targets, and the inside is just right to carry a wooden gun rack, ammo, scope w/tripod stand, earmuffs, and 2 guns in pistol rugs. Where have these Airlines gone today?

I think I got mine from Midway, its OD Green, has two padded pistol compartments plus loops for at least a dozen magazines, in between the compartments I think there is room for close to a dozen boxes of pistol ammo, there are two side compartments, one small enough for credentials the other large enough to carry the usual tools, also roomy enough to carry two large suppressors.

I too have had good luck with the midway bag, bought it years ago so I dont recall what I paid but I am tight so it must have been a good price.

Some how I end up needing a range truck to go shoot. 3 to 4 pistols, 3 long guns, ammo, targets, spotting scope, sand bag rest, an atv and my shooting buddy's stuff.
As to the bags I just use surplus military mechanics heavy canvas tool bags.

My Son bought me a great Range Bag from Target a few years back for Fathers Day and it's still going strong. The Official Range bags I have lack enough room for all my stuff and the one from Target (which is just a really strong all purpose bag) really worked out very well. It has lots of pockets and pouches and a solid bottom. Don't know the exact price but it was not expensive.
