With a weekday off yesterday, I snuck out to my rifle club (West Branch Rifle and Pistol Club).
My main goal was to try out some different loads in my 686-1 4" and 19-4 2.5".
Over the past few weeks, I had accumulated some Hornady FTX 140gn, some Fiocchi 142gn FMJTC, and some UMC 125gn SP.
The Fiocchi FMJTC load shoots very well, and seems pretty potent...Not sure what this load is made for, but it would probably penetrate very well on large animals...or cars. The Hornady FTX load was very accurate and plenty powerful...I think it would make a good SD load, and I am keeping it in my 686-1 now with a spare speedloader. The UMC 125gn SP load is full power and slaps the dirt hard...it was also very accurate. This load would probably be great for hunting smaller animals and predators.
I was shooting at about 30yds, and was able to place three clay pigeons on the berm. Had no problem with either revolver using any of the three loads busting the clay pigeons, then busting the pieces...Great fun!
I finished up shooting my Yugo M70 underfolding AK at the 100 yard rifle range. This rifle was built from a Serbian war surplus parts kit...it's wood stock has a couple minor serb crosses carved into it.
It was raining when I shot my AK, so I was aiming through raindrops...Still, not a bad group. I was using Golden Tiger FMJ and Brown Bear JHP. Here are a couple pics:
