I'm a new owner of a 2.0 9mm Compact and I'd like to get a range holster (not concealed carry) for this pistol. Any suggestions?

Also, it seems there is some dispute as to what sight picture this firearm is factory-configured - can anyone tell me which of the attached is correct?

Thanks!

I just picked up one of the 9C 2.0 M&P's as well and am thinking about seeing if Lobo Gun Leather makes a Combat Classic for it.

I have one for a 4" Model 64 Revolver and like where it rides and the accessibility.

Choose a sight picture with which you are comfortable. Either provided will work; however, I have always taught that, at your most common (read, "desired common") shooting distance, do not let the sights obscure your target. Consequently, if the sight pictures you provided are for your desired most common or expected self-defense encounter, you should choose #1 in my opinion.

As for range holster, there are certain considerations to take into account. Once again, in my opinion, you are better served to continue to use the holster you use for concealed carry. Having said that, I know, for convenience sake, we sometimes feel the need to use a different holster for range work, when just recreational shooting, for lack of a better term. In that case, any owb holster or drop leg/thigh holster, works well. OP, you may be seeking specific makes/models. If so, I apologize for not providing that. The list is almost endless. I will only go one step further to say, if not practicing with your daily carry holster, as you stated in your first post, I would suggest a good Kydex OWB or drop leg for a simple day at the range for recreational shooting.

I'll be getting my carry permit, but will probably not carry... at least not routinely. I want a holster for recreational shooting at outdoor ranges/plinking so I can easily keep my pistol with me.

You should be sure your Range even allows you to draw from a holster before thinking about what to use for a range holster.

All 3 of my local ranges don't allow it.

Here's a good previous discussion on MP sight picture.

My new favorite OWB is KT-Mech.com. Cheaper than most similar styles, and very well made in USA (Idaho). For a few more bucks, buy the IWB straps and you have both an IWB and OWB for the price of, usually, one style from the competition. For good leather - Milt Sparks (miltsparks.com).

For now, I decided to get an inexpensive (but well-reviewed) nylon holster from OUTBAGS USA - $12.50. Nylon OWB Holster | Mag Pouch | NSC03 | OUTBAGS USA

I'm not planning on using this for drawing at the range, just for keeping the firearm with me. I ordered direct from the company: cheaper than from Amazon and they do not charge for shipping. Once I've become more used to this pistol, I will probably upgrade but this will hopefully serve my initial purpose.
