So the last two times I've gone shooting I've gone to Hot Wells. It's an outdoor range just outside of Houston. My wife likes it because my indoor range is two tight, crowded, and loud. None of these things bother me at all.
Anyways, it's difficult to see my shots due to light and shadows, and that's just on the 7 yarder. I prefer to shoot at the 25 yard targets, but I don't have a clue where I hit on those no matter what glasses I use. They say there's a spotter scope upon request. Well I asked, and it's not true at all. So, the 25 yarder is a waste of ammo.
Onto the target racket. I had only shot one mag when some kid of a range officer tried to sell me a new target for a dollar. Is this standard at outdoor ranges? Isn't one fresh target included in the range fee. Last time a different officer "did me a favor" and put one up even though I didn't pay for it. It's already hard to see my shots without having to contend with someone elses previous shots.
I like my indoor range, where I can put my target where I want and check it whenever I like. I don't need to check the target because I can see my shots there anyway. I do like to bring it in and tape a nice, new paper plate on it.
I like less noise and shooting in the open air, but not at that place. Next time, I'll leave the wife at home and go to my indoor range with my paper plates.
