Muzzle flip

As someone said earlier about the sd9ve has little muzzle flip. Maybe that has something to do with it. I have no clue I have never shot a sd9ve.

Not so sure about that :) Me in full recoil with my SD9VE at IDPA match

The only other 2 handguns I've fired that felt more comfortable was an xd9 and a 1911. But both of those are priced completely different from a sd9ve

I just recently bought a Ruger 9E 9mm. That's about the equivalent to the SD9VE.
I like it very much. It's a keeper.
I have my eye on the new Ruger American compact 9mm. That thing sure looks like a tack driver!

A master craftsman can produce good work even with inferior tools, but even the best tools won't produce good work from those who lack skills.

However, the man masters the tool, not vice versa.

So true. When I used to sell my photos at shows I was always amazed at the number of people would say "you must really have a good camera". This would be similar to saying to an award winning chef "you must really have some good cookware".

I truly love my sd9ve, except fitting 16 rounds in the mags.. that my fellow sd9ve owners is a pain in the thumbs... till I picked up an uplula.

I've found the very same issue. I am unable to get more than 13 rounds in the magazine, which should be enough but I'm hoping the spring will loosen up over time. I've shot only 100 rounds through this pistol so far.

Get an uplula I get all in there everything as long as the mag base is on a sturdy table top.

I bought a 9E about a year ago. The trigger on it was better than the SD9VE, IMO. I liked it OK, and the mags hold 17 rounds. My LGS was offering a two-pack for $40, which was a real bargain. I eventually sold it, though, because it was just a little too big in my hand.

I wish Ruger would make a 9E Compact...I think the 9E is better set up than the SR9.

Good action shot! Like I said I have never shot sd9ve. Now with your picture as as proof of flip. makes me wonder how he could shoot better groups by rapid firing? makes no sense to me....

I kid you not the faster you roll on the trigger the easier it is to control for me. I'm not entirely sure why. I've also noticed (probably due to the heavier trigger) when firing controlled, ill sometimes pull to the left from recoil anticipation. It's a real bad habit that I'll work through only when I fire the sd9ve more.

Just be happy you're allowed to have a magazine that big. Up in Massachusetts we are limited to 10 rounds in anything we have. Not to mention the ban on AR15 and other sport rifles that just passed...

I agree on the Uplula. Even to load 10 rounds in mine it takes seconds.

Man that really sucks. I can sort of relate since my state doesn't have any nfa allowances. so no sbr, no supressor, and what not. Most states at least have supressors for hunting.

IDPA

How did the sdve fair in idpa?

It did better than me :) Had no issues with the SD at all, I on the other hand shot a few no-shoots and ejected a mag by mistake but had a good time.

This is a random question but have you ever had the mag not lock in and when you sling shot it pops the first round into battery then the mag drops? That happened to me the other day, I blame it on just sliding the mag up instead of really giving it good force on insertion.

I don't think that is what happened but everything happened so fast it's possible. Right after the mag change I had to move and shoot a steel drop target that was the trigger for a swinger and I just had a click instead of a BANG ! I thought is was a misfire so racked the slide back, click, looked and no Mag ! One good thing I think about IDPA is that it does put some stress on you (and your gun) so you can see what some of your shortcomings / gun issues might be.

This coming up year I'm gonna start doing a couple 3 gun runs on the entry level scale and I thought about using my sd9ve after dropping in an apex tactical kit with it and see what happens.
