At range today to test out Mag Guts in my magazine. They allow 8 rounds to be put in a 7 round mag and 9 rounds in a 8 round mag without adding any length to the mag. They performed very well and reliable, I like that.

I did all my drills at CCW class standards and ranges as I have a renewal coming up. I shot center mass drills, center mass to growing area to stop a knife or club attack and center mass then to head shots.

The M&P Shield 9mm performed very well with no issues. It is a fine shooting little 9mm pistol. I do have the Apex sear only installed in it. This dropped the trigger pull from around 6.8 to 7 lbs to a consistent smooth 5 1/8 to 5 1/4 lbs with a sweet break and reset. A very manageable trigger for a CCW pistol. Plus it makes shooting the pistol nice and I also feel it aids in accuracy.

I thought the stock trigger was ok on the Shield and manageable but it was a little stiff and broke like breaking a glass rod but had a good reset.

Good to hear that the MagGuts set is working for you.
There are a few threads about them on the forum. I believe I've replied in all of them. I picked up a couple sets last Spring and after reliability testing each set, I now have a set in all 5 of my flush (7round) mags.

I didn't get them specifically to be able to get an extra round into the mags, I actually got them because they make it easier to get the last round into the mag and it makes seating the mag so much easier (needing only a push, rather than a smack).

Yes, another very good point you made about the Mag Guts and I agree with you 100% after now useing the Mag Guts in my mags and testing them out.

The MagGuts do make things smoother and easier... to me they are more reliable than the factory mags. I witnessed someone's factory 8 rnd mag follower sticking as it came to the top causing feed issues with the last few rnds. He had to dissemble it, clean it, and use some dry graphite to get it working good again. He has since installed MagGuts. Neither of us have had any problems with them.

Does last round hold open still work? I know on my M&P 22 compact the kit like this kills the last round hold open. I don't mind that on the 22 but I don't want to lose that on the Shield.

Slide stays open on last round, no issues with the Mag Guts and the pistols function.
