Ranger School

I am very proud of my boy (Combat Arms Instructor Moody AFB), I talked to him yesterday and he sounded beat, wonder why.
He was one of the four chosen to complete Ranger School sometime next year, I am sure he will be fine. He is the guy running.

That is fantastic. I knew exactly ONE Air Force guy with a Ranger tab during my eight years. That is quite an honor.

How much does that freakin' pack WEIGH??? Good grief, it's half as big as he is!

Even when I was young and in great shape, the heaviest pack I shouldered was about 75-80 pounds for a 50 mile hike. But I sure as heck wasn't running with it.

Congratulations to your son, and to you as well. You've obviously raised a fine young man.

I only wish the general public was worthy of such fine men. His sense of honor and duty stand in sharp contrast to a society that has, in many ways, lost its way. It would be a privilege to know him and his comrades.

Thanks for all the great comments, he is a gem, and a great Dad of two girls, that have him wraped tight.
After he finishes this, he is going to go to airborne school, I will be going there to see him jump, and check out the cool stuff.
Did I mention that he almost has his college degree.
I think he did say the pack weighed about 70#.

Gongrats to your son. That is a tough school. I also come from an older era and have never seen an airman with a ranger tab. The airborne afterwords is mandatory. I don't beleive such a thing as a leg ranger exists anymore. After ranger school jump school will be a breeze.
