Some interesting figures . . . . . According to a Rasmussen poll released today , 47% of adults polled favor stricter gun laws. 45% are against stricter gun laws. The margin of error in the poll is +/- 3%, so one can conclude that the public is evenly split on the issue. I believe this is amazing coming less than a week after the Newtown Tragedy. I would really have thought that public opinion would be much stronger against guns for a while. More figures . . . . 86% of those polled think more action should be taken to ID and treat mental illness. 49% of adults polled believe there should be restrictions on violent movies and video games. (This is as disturbing to me as the anti-gun figures . . . the 1st Amendment is as precious as the second.) 48% believe more action to treat mental health issues is the best way to prevent such tragedies in the future. Only 27% believe stricter gun laws will do the most to prevent them.
