As of this morning, Thursday, the Oregonian Newspaper said that four Oregon County Sheriffs has joined in saying they would protect the second amendment and not allow violations of the Constitution by the Feds.

A surprise since Oregon tends to be pretty liberal down the central corridor from Portland to Medford. But the rural and coast areas are fiercely conservative.

Agreed. My wife and I are seriously considering a move from Multnomah County. Kind of grates to be paying taxes to those who don't respect our rights and liberties.

Medford is the County seat of Jackson County.
Watch your words there brother!

"The federal government will not seize one gun in Jackson County while I am Sheriff here," says Sheriff Mike Winters.

Go to the 4:00 Minute mark for the guns not being seized by the Feds.

Then the Sheriff said, "If I can't enforce Federal Immigration Laws I won't enforce Federal Gun Laws."

Good for Sheriff Winters!

This is getting interesting

Imagine this attitude spreading across the country. Local LE simply stating "that's a federal problem and none of my business". Many federal prosecutions are now the result of arrests made by state and local officers. Felons with guns, drugs that crossed state lines, etc. The local authorities call the feds and start the ball rolling. But regarding federal gun laws, what if that call (from local to fed) is never made?

EXCELLENT!

Here in NM as well (a buddy of mine is one of the sheriffs quoted):

State's sheriffs defend 2nd Amendment | KOB.com

This is the kind of thing we need in the battle for public opinion, and it heartens me greatly. I just hope it keeps up. I have written short emails to my local sheriffs commending them on their stand, I suggest everyone that has a local guy standing up for the 2A do the same.

I am beginning to hope that we may just be able not only to defeat new restrictions, but maybe even roll some back. :)

Just caught this on another forum, in response to the "why do you need..." question:

"I am a police officer. I carry an AR15 with 30 round mags every day of the week because it is the best tool for me to use to defend your lives and the
lives of your loved ones from those who would do you harm.
You need access to them for the same reason I do.
Even more so because you are going to be there before I am."

emphasis added ;)

I'd love to know where/who that quote came from.
