Hi, I am new to this site and I need help in valueing a 38 S&W \CTC with a serial # on the bottom of the as 413381. My wife's Aunt who was 102 when she passed in 2011 left it with me. It used to belong to her husband who passed approximately 20 years before she died, thanks.

Welcome we will need more information than provided and pictures would be even better. Also at the top of the forum there is a sticky on how to identify your revolver that will help you in giving us the info we need.

Welcome to the forums from the Wiregrass! You are going to have to tell us a lot more about the gun. Pictures would be best from all sides. Take close ups of the stampings. Apparently, your gun is chambered for the .38 S&W Cartridge (CTG), but that doesn't mean it is a S&W. There are many manufacturers that made guns to shoot the .38 S&W. As Merl67 says, read the sticky at the top of the page and give us at least that information.

It is probably a .38 Double Action, 4th Model, if there is a hinge ahead of the trigger. This indicates it being what is called a top break revolver. It would probably be from the 1899-1901 period. A picture would help, as there are other possibilities. Can you see the hammer?

The .38 S&W cartridge is still available, but is somewhat difficult to find, as it is nearly obsolete. It is not the same as the more modern .38 S&W Special cartridge, and the two sizes are not interchangeable.
