The price is so good, I almost bought one just to have a spare. Then I decided that since the one I bought in 1974 and still use still works, I probably would never need it.

If memory serves I think I paid nearly $100 for one some time back. That is a very good deal.

$40.00, free shipping and a brand new scale....that's a darn good deal for a darn good scale.
I paid that much for a used one that came without a box or instructions!
Why can't these deals show up when you're shopping for something.
I'm always skeptical about deals that seem "too good to be true", let us know if it's for real!

That is a great deal on that 505. That is about what a used one typically sells for in good condition. I have two of them, I'ved owned other balance beam scales but the 505 is my favorite.

... Olive green with all the dust and dirt that it has gained over the many decades.

Nevada
what side of the pivet is all that dust and dirt on?

if you cleaned it --- would you have to redo all your testing of loads?:D

Any thoughts on RCBS 505 scale vs the Lee safety powder scale? I have a Lee Classic Turret Press Kit that includes the safety powder scale. I will gladly spend $40.00 on the 505 if it is a better scale.

I have LEE presses, LEE powder measures and many many LEE dies but the scale went in the trash.

It actually works and is accurate but what a PITA to use!!
