RCBS 5-0-5 On Amazon

I have LEE presses, LEE powder measures and many many LEE dies but the scale went in the trash.
I've been laughed at over the years because I use a Load Master for my progressive needs, a little Lee O press for decapping, a big Hornady/Pacific O press for heavy sizing, and Lee dies. I use a Lee perfect powder measure for charges up to 223 and a RCBS for big rifle calibers.
Years ago I bought a RCBS 5 10 scale (No longer made) and loved it. I bought a 1010 scale dirt cheap as a backup, but I've never needed it yet. A 5 0 5 is a good scale until you can afford a 1010.
Lee makes good equipment, but you need to check it very closely when you get it home.
Sometimes I think that Lee's quality control is run by the Marx brothers.

Any thoughts on RCBS 505 scale vs the Lee safety powder scale? I have a Lee Classic Turret Press Kit that includes the safety powder scale. I will gladly spend $40.00 on the 505 if it is a better scale.
I have precisely what you list above, except that I have the RCBS scale. Bought it used from some fella on this thr, er,uh, forum. ;) Luv the RCBS.

Yes, for $40, it is well worth it.

I just bought a vintage NIB Ohaus 505 scale (same as the RCBS, I believe). I gave $40 shipped for it and considered it a good deal. Seems like the older ones are just made better to me. I have a newer Lyman scale and it works fine, but just seems, well, kinda cheap made.

Great buy for a great scale. That is the scale I've used since 1974.

Update.

The RCBS 505 from Amazon arrived today. Essentially it is the same (RCBS) and the same as the Dillon Eliminator.

It is marked manufactured for RCBS by Ohaus but is indeed made in China.

The cast base is a lot lighter than the Dillon, didn't weigh it but just by picking it up it is a lot less. The beam, poise and powder pan appear to be the same.

I zeroed it but did not put check weights on it yet.

It looks like a OK scale, nothing outstanding though. Should be just fine for reloading needs. For the price it will work.

Still has a RCBS forever warranty and it's green.;)
