I won that ^^^ on auction.
However, it does not include primer tube(s). The seller says it's many years old (made in USA), but in excellent shape. = More to follow.

My question for those of you who have/had/use one, does it require proprietary RCBS tubes? Or, will any standard (Dillon) tubes fit? I only load one caliber, so small tubes are what I'll need. I'm not opposed to adding "tape" shims or gently sanding it down to get that perfect fit, but as with all things in this hobby, safety first!

Tanks

Call RCBS. Their customer service is even better than S&W. They will probably send you tubes for free. If not, at least you will have the proper ones.

The Dillon primer tube fits but the pin that holds the primers in the tube is a lot lower on the Dillon tube. Probably won't work very well.
The RCBS Bench priming tool is the cats meow. I bought one for myself for Christmas and it's fantastic.

Hornady AP tubes and VibraPrime tubes fit well. Interestingly, the tubes from my Hornady 1911 Primer Tube Filler fit but must be held up a little higher (tape works) to get them to feed properly.

Have never tried my Dillon tubes. If the pin that holds the primers is too low on the Dillon tube, you could always drill holes higher up.

I have one, I really like it. My LGS sells the tubes, I believe they were priced about 20 bucks each

I use RCBS hand primers but seem to be having a lot of problems with them of late-- never was a fan of stacking a bunch of primers on top of each other. Can ANY shell holders be used with these bench printers??

I have one of those RCBS bench-mounted priming tools that has to be 35 years old. I no longer use it because I much prefer their hand-held tools but they do work great.

I've been using one for 30+ years. I buy spare RCBS tubes on eBay...they do wear out with long-term use.

Yes, most of mine are Lyman.

I have one of the 35 year old models. I use it for large rifle, pistol. Works great, but the Lee hand primer, also a 35 yr model, works great on small primers.

I have one of the RCBS bench primers and truthfully have never been real happy with it. It tends to at times double drop primers causing one or both to misfeed and fall on the floor. I have replaced the seating punches and the tubes with no effect. I no longer use it with the tubes.

I also have to disagree with RCBS customer service of late. Just last year after 2 years of back and forth between RCBS about a strip loader I finally got one replaced that was missing parts. I had even mailed it back twice and CS did not realize it was sold without a critical part. Not very good CS in my experience. Since ATK took over RCBS CS is not what it used to be and I have been using RCBS for almost 50 years.

CS at RCBS is great IME

I had my first experience with the CS at RCBS last month. I had 1 issue with my 25+ year old Lil' Dandy powder measure and another issue with a newly purchased rotor for it. I emailed RCBS and they shipped 2 new parts for me at no cost. It was unexpected, at least for my old powder measure. I remain a very satisfied RCBS customer.

I can vouch that RCBS CS is awesome. Once I finally got through to them, transferred from that large "Vista" call center over to John @ RCBS!
We chatted a bit, and told him about the product and how I acquired it and what was not included. He asked for my mailing address and said he'd get a small primer tube out and the set-up / maintenance sheet with it. That's awesome!

AND, tanks to you all for making the suggestion!

After reading here I went over to my buddies reloading shop and ask about them. Couple people there who I trust and they all said how much they loved their's. My pal had one in stock and said take it and try it out, don't like it. If you do come back and pay for it. :D
Brought the little sucker home and mounted it on a board to clamp on the bench to try out. Charging the tube with primers is a bit slower than I might like, but I am in no hurry so you can mark me sold on this baby. Bill said he wore out the cross bolt on his and RCBS replaced it for free. Also said afer many years the little plastic grabbers got too spread out, but I doubt I will be around long enough to worry about that. :) Should of done this 40 years ago. :)
