I have a 27-2 with a 3 1/2" barrel. The barrel must have been an exchange, as the color is plum -- the frame is fine. The gun is a shooter, but the two-tone color makes me crazy. Who would you recommend I send it to for a complete re-blue? Thanks. C_B

Unless you want to remain crazy, I'd say you better send it in.

I have no experience with this outfit, but they have been recommended to me to repair my M-17. I emailed this morning and got a prompt reply. Good sign in my book. I wish he had some before/after pics, but the finished product look really nice.

I agree with Gun 4 Fun, your barrel is a different type of metal than your frame. If you have it reblued, in about 2-3 years it will turn back to the same color again. There is nothing that can be done except to keep rebluing every 2-3 years.

Thanks for the replies. I have been told that the plum color could be from poor-quality blueing solution (hence my thought that it may have been re-blued prior to installation). Perhaps one of the recommended re-finishers might have some thoughts. Thanks again. C_B

Plum colored bluing can also be caused by dipping the part into the bluing tank which is not at the correct temperature. Bren Tens were notorious for it.
