RE: Cannon gun safes - replacing/changing the digital lock
Good evening:
This is my version of a PSA (Public Service Announcement) about lock replacements for Cannon gun safes.
I own a Cannon gun safe (I know, it's actually a RSC) that is probably 15 years old. It came with a S&G digital lock, and my understanding is that the factory recommends replacing the lock after 10 years.
I've been wanting to replace the digital lock with a dial combination lock for several years - especially since the old lock has been increasingly more difficult to use (multiple entry attempts, occasional failures to open, etc.), but I was having trouble saving the money for a new lock plus the locksmith's fees. Then I remembered that the Cannon gun safes come with a lifetime warranty - hmmm. I contact Cannon's customer service and asked them for help, and they sent me a replacement digital lock quickly, and at no cost.
Installation was very easy - they even provided links to the appropriate You Tube videos. Though it's not a mechanical combination type lock, I'm more than happy with the replacement digital lock.
Regards,
Dave
