It has come to my attention that the genuine prop rods can be hard to come by. Any advice on how to snag one??

Find a sponsor and join the Smith & Wesson Collector's Assoc. and come to the annual Symposium. You will find them on the sales tables of members. Good Luck, Ed.

I will be sending in my application very soon, Ed. Already have a stellar sponsor lined up!

Where is next year's going to be held?

Don't be afraid to ask at gun shops either if you see them, particularly if they are just lying in a case and actually being used to prop up guns.

I've bought many that way. If I see them, I ask if they are for sale. If the answer is no, I go along, but if the answer is yes and the price reasonable I buy all they will sell me.

eBay Is A good Source (Under Smith&Wesson Items)

There are some on eBay from time to time, but they are around $30 each. I was able to get several from my Smith&Wesson stocking dealer, who in turn got them from his Smith&Wesson sales person who visits the shop from time to time. I don't know however if Smith&Wesson still makes them or not.

timetesh, I'm glad you have a sponsor lined up for membership. Next yrs. Symposium is in Spokane, WA, and 2016 is in Baton Rouge, LA. Locations are moved around the uS to allow as many members as possible the opportunity to attend. Ed.

Thanks for the info, Ed. I sent in my check and application today!

I might be wrong here, I have seen two types of blue prop rod. One has the raised spiral on the shaft and the other is plain. Correct me if I am wrong.

PS: I am still grateful to the moderator who passed on to me two lovely revolvers each with a prop rod.
