Where's a good place to find good surplus items?

I tried to find a belt at my local Army/Navy but all Surplus Sam had was thin military knock offs from the pacific rim. The crud they sell there is thinner and doesn't lock in to the buckle.

Any thing to rip off the public and save a penny seems to be the way these days.

Just looking for a uniform style belt.

I miss good old surplus stores. :(

As a kid in Germany, my dad would take me to the local places sometimes around K Town.

I still remember using that Army tent and sleeping bag I had in Scouts - but ugh - the smell lol.

Plus K rations (or were they C rations?) with that little can opener thingy. I never got the hang of that thing.

That smell you remember now smells like Chinese junk.

That old army tent of Dads sure smelled for sure.

C rations required a p 38 to open. If you had a K-Bar you didn't need a P 38. :)

Lost my P-38 many years ago, still have my K-Bar.

My Dad had some kind of a Marines? issued fighting or trench knife he somehow got in WWII. Im guessing he either traded for it or won it in a gambling game (craps?) he started in the Latrine. I remember we used that sucker for all kinds of stuff. One of my older brothers lost it somewhere.:mad:

I was given a P-38 about a year ago. Never have used one before--I tried it on a large can of Bushs baked beans--and ruined it. It was made of cheap metal.:(

PS, by the way, that game he started in the latrine--allegedly lasted a week.

Thanks, but no. It's the only thing I brought home, other than myself.

Thanks for going!

Lost my dad's in a fire. In addition to the sentimental value, his knife would hold an edge as well as anything this side of a Randall.

You only get a lot of real military surplus when the military goes through a rapid expansion and then a reduction.
Or- just join up and bring some home. I still have the aircrew saw back knife that I flew with in SEA.
