Rear Sight Blade Differences

Other than the obvious, what are the differences between the .126, .146, and the .160 rear sight blades for the Model 19? Are there any advantages in using one over the other? Thanks for your help.

The .160 has a deeper notch. I think it gives a better sight picture and is pretty much a necessity if you use a FO front.

Different blade heights are for different barrel lengths. A blade that is too tall for a particular barrel length will cause the gun to shoot high. For example, I had a Model 67 with a 4" barrel and a .146 sight blade. I checked with S&W and was told that the correct height was .106. That corrected the problem of shots that were 6" high at 15 yards.

Exactly correct. If you change the height of the front sight, you will either need to change the rear or regulate the load. Otherwise, the "factory" height is the correct one.
