I would like to upgrade my rear sight on my M&P 15 Sport? What is a good, steel sight adjustable for W&E? I am a real novice with the AR platform

If you have a standard A2 Front sight that is F-marked you can either use a carry handle sight (I recommend Aero Precision) or a MagPul MBUS 2 rear sight. However, the only adjustments available on the MagPul rear is windage. The elevation adjustments must be made on the front sight. If you get the carry handle sight, there is a procedure to combat zero the weapon for 300 meters using the front and rear sight. That's a whole other discussion.

This would be a good option:

AimSurplus, LLC

Aim surplus has lots of rear sight options, including Aero Precision's carry handle sight.

I have a scope on it now. Rds don't work for me-astigmatism I guess. A decent folding sight would be good.

If you want both windage and elevation in a steel folding sight, it is hard to beat the Matech USGI BUIS, its what the Army issued for a while.

The KAC micro rear sight is great too, but costs significantly more.

That Aero precision sight looks good. I might just get that.

Here is the Aero Precision carry handle sight on my last build. Really a great milspec iron sight option. The upper is a Del Ton with A2 F-marked front sight. Once I had it zeroed, it shot pretty well at 200 yards on the 175 meter verification target. About as good as I can do with aging eyes and a short barrel carbine.

Magpul pro sight would work, it would work with your front sight and fold under the scope. Midwest Industries and Bravo Company make good quality sights as well.

In the end it depends on how much you want to spend.

If this is just for backup the Magpul Gen 3 is worth a look. It is less bulky and a little smaller when folded than the Magpul Gen 2. I recently brought one and like it. I doubt that I will ever use a Gen 2 again.
