Greeting's to all! I thought I would throw in a before and after pic of my 39-2. She was in poor shape when I picked her up...... but for 80 dollars I didnt really care. I Sandblasted the slide, Smoothed out most of the hard edges that were dinged to hell on the frame...Had to reshape the dovetail because there was a huge gouge in it, Polished the barrel, throat, trigger and built a compensator (mostly for looks). She is now wearing Duracoat titanium blue and matte black. And to finish the transformation some Carbon Fiber grips. This was my first attempt at working over a pistol, I am by no means a gunsmith or anything close but I wanted to see what I could do. Everything was sanded by hand with different grits of sandpaper and polished with a dremel tool, The compensator was made from steel tubing and a cutoff wheel. I completely disassembled and reassembled the entire pistol by using the parts diagram S&W sent me in the mail. Total cost of materials including the grips...90 dollars. Hope you enjoy my workmanship!

Thanks guys! I appreciate the great feedback, I am now working over a stainless model 64 revolver but its just getting a polish job and some new grips. I have been using 2500 grit sandpaper on it and Mothers mag wheel polish and it is turning out very well. I have a good before pic and a not so good after but you will see the difference. Notice the little H&R above it in the after pic, I just picked her up for 45 bucks and I'm not touching it!! Looking for another project though.......

Thumbs up! I'm doing something similar with my 639. Got an extra slide that is off to Black-T and carbon grips are on order. Great minds work alike, I guess..

For sure! I am trying to hunt down some better looking grip screws to compliment the grips, I'll let you know if I come up with anything.

Nice work,
I have a 32 HE that may get some work
