Will this tool work the same as the one from Brownells? The one from midway is a fraction of the cost.

Rebound slide spring removal tool?

Cut the tongue out of an old leather shoe. Hold the leather over the rebound slide and pry up with a small screwdriver. Spring pops out against the leather, you're done. Reinstall: cut groove in smally driver blade so spring won't slip off, place spring and slide together, compress spring while pressing down against frame with your finger. Much less expensive.

Yes, I have it and it works just fine. I've installed many a rebound slide with a small screwdriver. It's not hard to do and blah, blah, blah. The purpose designed tool is faster and easier.

I have one that has a different head on each end with a handle in the middle, works really well. One end for removing the rebound, the other for pushing the spring in. It captivates the spring so it pushs in and down with a groove on one side to fit over the stud. I can't remember where the heck I got it. I will post a pic in the morning if your interested.

Yes it does ship in three pieces, that simply push in, Why? So they can ship it in a box size of compact car

I use a med phillips for removal and install.
the pointed tip of the phillips head depresses the spring w/o fear of launching.
one of the 4 cuts of the phillips head catches the pin in the frame to depress downward enough to hold the spring.
then the tip of the phillips head depresses the rest of the spring to clear the pin.
sounds difficult, but really not.
if you are looking for extreme low buck.

The angle bend on the Midway tool does make it a lot easier to use.
