Receipt's

Just going through some files and desk drawers. Have found two folders worth of receipts for toys. Some dating back to the 1980's. How long do you keep your firearms receipts? Even if you no longer have the firearm? Will keep for sure the ones for the firearms that I still have.

I keep receipts for ones I have and all transfer/sale paperwork and info.

Curious to hear all the replies on this one as I just pulled out mine the other day.

I keep all of mine forever. Incoming and outgoing so most are double paperwork. In Pa sales went digital so paperwork has reduced to only one paper receipt now.

I used to have all my taxes for over 35 years and just shredded them except the last seven years. I quit doing my own taxes so paperwork is down.

Christ...I have trouble locating letters from Dr. Jinks and I know I should take care of them considering what they are worth today.

My current accumulation is somewhere between 30 and 35.

I may have 2 receipts.

I toss ‘em in the trash the day the gun comes home. I’ve owned hundreds of guns and never needed a receipt.

Receipts for guns are a paper trail that my wife would find eventually.

I know not all states require any sort of paperwork for private sales of handguns but my state does.
I keep the records for proof of ownership. If you bought a used gun years ago then sold it and then it was determined to have been used in a crime prior to your ownership you want to be able to prove when you bought it. And from who you bought it from.

I keep couple lists of numbers and another lists with all receipts in a separate area.
