I originally posted this at Glocktalk general forum.

I received a 15 round M&P 9 magazine for my Wife's M&P 9C that I had ordered from Cheaper Than Dirt today. If you're not aware, the regular (full size) M&P 9 magazine has a capacity of 17 rounds. Since I live in the capacity limited State of Colorado, I ordered the 15 round M&P 9 magazine so my Wife would have as much legal capacity for her -9C as the ridiculous State law allows. I haven't tested it for function yet at the range, but it loads and seems to feed just fine. Smith's solution is very simple - they include a longer spring that is bunched up at the bottom, thereby limiting the magazine to hold 15 rounds (and it's only marked to 15 rounds). Quite ingenious if you ask me. My 15 round G17 magazine should arrive on Monday - it'll be interesting to compare the two different designs.
PS: I have an X-Grip mag sleeve extension on the full size magazines for her -9C.

don't feel too bad , here in mass the full size mag I have with an X sleeve for my 9C is limited to 10 rounds :(

FWIW, I only ever put 15 rounds in my 17 round magazines anyway.

Yep. I'd love to be able to own a 15-round M&P magazine without risking spending the rest of my life in prison. :o Too bad for me, I live in Massachusetts where liberty was born and where liberty has now died. :(

Only pre-ban hi-caps are legal for us non-LEO peasants... and, of course, there is no such thing as a pre-ban S&W M&P magazine. :(

10 rounds here in CA. At least you get 3 extra with the FS mag. :)

The 10 rounders actually have a shortened body and extended floorplate. The FS and Compact share the same mag body. I "converted" a couple of FS mags to compact with the pinky extension using the parts S&W Customer Service sent me for free.

I have Xgrips too.

That's good news. I live in communist occupied Colorado too, and would be interested in a few of those. Are they S&W mfg.?

Edit: Just checked, they are ProMag, for anyone interested.

The one I received is from S&W.

Put some rounds through the 15 round mag today - 100% reliable (not surprisingly). Feeds hollow points and ball ammo just fine. I have an X-grip sleeve on, and it's loaded up with Federal HST in my Wife's M&P 9c.
