I got in the mail just now, from NRA-ILA, a petition for me to sign and send back to them regarding our 2nd Amendment rights. This is legit, right? From the actual NRA? I am always so leery of fake/junk mail parading as something legit when it's not. And the letter is asking not only for me to sign this petition and send it back, but to send a contribution. Sorry if I seem green in this area, but I just want to do the right thing, with the right people. Thanks!

I contribute to the NRA-ILA as well as other pro-2A organizations.

They often ask you to sign a petition, letter, etc. in addition, but I think the most effective way to communicate with your elected officials to express your concerns is a phone call, email or letter directly to them. It is surprising to me how easy it is, how few do it and how much the officials weigh these messages. They figure if you write that 10 (100, 1000?) have the same opinion but don't.

Classic NRA fund raising letter..... expect more to come in the future.

I regularly contribute to NRA and the Second Amendment Foundation. I do not, however get mail from either of them. All you need to do is ask them to not send it. That is much more effective than bitching about it on an intertoob forum.

The OP was asking whether or not it was a legitimate item from the NRA/ILA, and not complaining about getting it.

That's a far cry from "bitching about it", lighten up man.

I don't think that comment was aimed at the OP so much as at the TONS of people who complain - here and elsewhere - about getting too much mail from the NRA but are too lazy to simply ask the NRA to stop sending it - which they will if you ask.

I get about one piece of mail every month or two from the NRA - and I've been a member for decades. All you have to do is ask them not to send you mail and they won't send it anymore.

Thank you. I was not bitching about the actual letter.... just if it was legit. I guess I can find my answers elsewhere but i figured if anyone could answer my questions, it would be the people here. Thank you for the backup :)
