I happened to be in Abilene, TX this week visiting my dear Mother-in-Law. Always try and stop by my favorite LGS there when I'm in town.

The Good News. They had the best selection and stock of powder I've seen in four years (at this location) and some good inventory of powders I haven't seen often lately. And they had a good stock of primers - except for large rifle - rather like everywhere else.

The Not So Good News. Alliant Reloader powders were retailing for $60 a pound. No powder was less than $40/lb. Primers were $12.99 per 100 with no discount for greater quantities.

Gulp. Unquestionably reloading still makes all kinds of sense for me but I'm finding better deals filling my occasional needs on-line than in retail stores.

You can get primers cheaper then that delivered from the internet. Most flavors seem to be available online. Powder is a tad high, but if ordering from the net you have to order a lot to offset the hazmat.

I was at Dawson's in NE Ohio (Massillon?) yesterday. Bought 2 pounds of BL-C (2) for $31.00 a pound! They had a complete lineup of Everything Hodgdon sells at similar prices!

Shotgun primers only!

Those prices are absurd.

Reloader powders are very scarce these days but a shipment came through our store last month and they sold for $45/lb.

Primers are about $79-$89/k for standard, maybe $115/k for benchrest.
Your LGS is probably buying all this stuff at full retail and then marking it up.

Seems to me the prices around my neck of the woods stayed pretty steady through the fall of last year. Now the last month or so they're slowly climbing again.

As is gasoline
