Nice gun, but I have to ask - did the rollmarks get that gold paint treatment from S&W factory or did someone do that post-purchase? I've seen some others that have been painted out on the markets (GB) and often wonder how easy it is to get that off without marring the blued finish.

Not factory. Nail polish remover (acetone) takes it out without damage-IF you remove the stocks first!

Rather gaudy (IMHO), but some folks like it.
 
I may remove the gold paint. It was cool to do back in the day. Came in a kit if I remember correctly. If those stocks are Goncalo, they sure are ugly and have no figure. Thanks all. Big Larry
 
A look at the back side of the grips would give a better look of the color of the wood and help to identify it. A bit harder to see from the outside with the checkering.
