I recently purchased two 637 "Wyatt Deep Cover" which have the Performance Center shield on the frame side. They're lovely and I would not modify them. However, the rebound spring is much lighter than on the standard Js. After literally 1000's of rounds through unmodified J-frames, it has not been easy to get accustomed to the 'softer' trigger return of the new 637s. A 'smith says they're perfect and are set especially to slightly lighten the DA pull while getting a full mainspring strike.
I've also noticed that, on the yoke, the notch for the crane retention screw is not cut all the way around, but is instead a smaller V-shape (possible to tighten the crane when in battery?).
Any similarities to the above on your gun? Awfully nice gun, by the way. Stay safe, partner.

S&W has been doing the yoke screws like that for quite a while.

I noticed that notch in the yoke stem when I tore down my new-to-me 442-2 for the first time. Doesn't look as "correct" as the machined groove on my vintage S&W's but I guess it must work OK. Looks like Dan'l Boone did it with a hatchet though.

Hey Photo, thanks for the skinny on the revised notch on the yoke. Just removed the crane on my new 686 Plus for cleaning and lubing and, yes, the new notch is there also.
