Age Activated Attention Deficit Disorder.

This is how this insidious disease manifests itself:
I decided to wash my car. As I start toward the garage, I notice that there is mail on the hall table. I decide to go through the mail before I wash the car. I lay my car keys down on the table, put the junk mail in the trashcan under the table, and notice that the trashcan is full. So I decide to put the bills back on the table and take out the trash first.
But then I think, since I'm going to be near the mailbox when I take out the trash anyway, I may as well pay the bills first. I take my checkbook off the table, and see that there is only one check left. My extra checks are in my desk in the study, so I go to my desk where I find the can of pop that I had been drinking. I'm going to look for my checks, but first I need to push the pop aside so that I don't accidentally knock it over.?
I see that the pop is getting warm, and I decide I should put it in the refrigerator to keep it cold. As I head toward the kitchen with the pop, a vase of flowers on the counter catches my eye -- they need to be watered. I set the pop down on the counter, and I discover my reading glasses that I've been searching for all morning. I decide I better put them back on my desk, but first I'm going to water the flowers.
I set the glasses back down on the counter, fill a container with water and suddenly I spot the TV remote. Someone left it on the kitchen table. I realize that tonight when we go to watch TV, we will be looking for the remote, but nobody will remember that it's on the kitchen table, so I decide to put it back in the den where it belongs, but first I'll water the flowers. I splash some water on the flowers, but most of it spills on the floor.
So, I set the remote back down on the table, get some towels and wipe up the spill. Then I head down the hall trying to remember what I was planning to do. At the end of the day: the car isn't washed, the bills aren't paid, there is a warm can of pop sitting on the counter, the flowers aren't watered, there is still only one check in my checkbook, I can't find the remote, I can't find my glasses, and I don't remember what I did with the car keys.
Then when I try to figure out why nothing got done today, I'm really baffled because I know I was busy all day long, and I'm really tired. I realize this is a serious problem, and I'll try to get some help for it, but first I'll check S&W Forum and see what's up.

A guy at work was insisting I do things his way, he was however way off base so I just proceeded and hoped he would catch on. Finally after telling me several times and me ignoring him he ask are you ADD or something? I replied no but I am AKA, ABOUT to KICK your ***.

Now that's funny! LOL. The sad thing is, I think I got it too!!
 
I now own at least 6 T.V. remotes. I have never seen them all together at one time. After 10 years of trying to remember to take my BP pill at the same time I finally programmed the alarm on my cell to remind me daily at 7 p.m.. About every other day I have to call the cell from the landline at home to find it when it hides around the house. I have a list of stuff to check before I leave the house taped to the back door.
 
ADD in adults is the real thing. You just have to learn to deal with alot of different stuff. If you are recently diagnosed, really give the meds a try. Supportive spouse is a must. Just remember most people with ADD are really smart!!
 
Welcome to my world. I swear since I retired I cannot do or remember to do a thing except reload and shoot! Oh yeah, and buying S&W's. Good luck and try to stay focused.

I finally realized once and for all I have it, even though I had been told I had it by an attorney/CPA I worked for who had it. I put the pieces together while doing research for my 16-year old son and filling in the worksheets for his formal evaluation (yeah - I do that too!).

The good news is we're really great multi-taskers and thrive when the pressure is on. The bad news is the slightest boredom puts us into a coma as our brains go on to do something more interesting.

He's on Ritalin to help him stay focused in class, and it's helping quiet the distractions in his head. His handwriting has also suffered (ADD and dysgraphia are linked) so I was able to procure permission for him to use a small laptop in class and wireless-print his assignments to the classroom printer. It's working out very well.

I told my son it's not a handicap, it's a gift, and as soon as he learns how to harness it and get it to work FOR him, he will soar!
 
sounds like just a normal day for me......sometimes I just go in circles arouind the house......I dont wander off.......yet :D

actaully pretty sure I have ADD, but they didnt have a name for it when I was a kid
