I am sure its been asked but I cant seem to find it.
I have an M&P 2.0 40c. It is the 4in with no flippers. Wonderful gun but I was shooting some rather warm ammo and wanted to go up some on the recoil spring weight.
I bought this with a 20# ISMI spring.
Assembled Stainless Steel Guide Rods for Smith & Wesson M&P M2.0 Compact 4" Pistols > Galloway Precision
It feels significantly lighter than my stock spring especially in the initial 1/4-1/2" of travel. That little area where you would do a press check seem to have almost no tension.
Both assemblies are the same length but I went back and forth several times and yup .. that initial take up is heavier on the stock spring.
My stock spring was painted orange. Can anyone tell me with any degree of certainty what weight spring the 40C painted orange is?
I can always order a heavier spring to install on the new guide rod but I need to know where I started.
Thank you in advance for any assistance
Edited to add pic and
It seems the stock spring has more coils for the same length and the spring fits better on the guide rod even though the rods are the same diameter? The spaces between coils on the stock spring seem closer together
