There's such a variety of pocket holsters for the J frame that it's difficult to make a decision - from the $20 of Simply Rugged to the $100+ of Mitch Rosen and Kramer.

What have you guys found works well?

The Stoner pocket holster, that Don Hume, and Pocket Concealement Systems make.

Stoner: $36.00
Hume: $48.00
PCS: $65.00

They're all the same; why the price difference, I don't know. Stoner only comes in black. The Hume only in Saddle, and PCS offers 4 or 5 different colors.

I like the DeSantis Nemesis. Never had the opportunity to use a Mika - - because I have been so happy with the DeSantis.

If you want the BEST OWB holster, I would reco Kramer Leather's Horsehide Belt Scabbard in black. IMHO it's the best there is. I have had mine 10 years and wear it at least 150 days a year - still looks and works like new! His Horsehide double 1 1/4" belt is also top notch.

I use either an Uncle Mikes'#3, or a DeSantis Nemesis for pocket carry of my J-frames. The Uncle Mike's is a bit smaller and thinner, but the Nemesis also works well for use in a jacket pocket. The Nemesis is also better constructed, and I think would last longer. Both are, or were cheap at under $20.00 each, but that was several years ago. I'm getting ready to try a Remora as a utility holster that I can use for pocket and/or occasional IWB use.

Best of luck,

Dave

I have found the desantis nemesis to be the most functional.

had a Mika several years never fails to stay in the pocket ,love it

I have Uncle Mike's, to Mika, to Kramer.

They all work.
Kramer, is as almost always true with leather, you get what you pay for. I actually have two.

I have limited experience with pocket holsters.
That said, from a generic, to a Nemesis, to a Mika.
The Mika just plain works great. Either round or square-bottom.

You'll like-a the Mika. It's everything a pocket holster should be and nothing it shouldn't.

I make custom holsters and I can make ya one to your specs. My personal pocket holster is unmolded and rough side out. Designing it this way allows the gun to slide out smoothly and retains the holster in the pocket. It can be custom contoured to fit the pocket of your favorite trousers.

DM Bullard $50 great quality. Snubbyfan on this forum made me a backpocket holster that works great and nicely made also.

Snubbyfan made me an excellent holster for pocket carry with a Native American Motif. Beadwork embedded on "out" side. I love it!

I'm sending him my knife for a Shealth.

I've used the Uncle Mike's for years and it does the job. Lately I've been looking into alternatives that might be a little more consistent in orienting the gun in a variety of pockets. Had a thread going here and on a couple of other forums, inquiring about options. The majority opinion was that I should try the Desantis Nemesis, so I just ordered one. If it doesn't suit me I'll probably try a Mika. I won't be out a lot of money if I do, and folks seem to think really highly of the Nemesis.

Another Mika Fan here......

I have a couple Simply Rugged pocket holsters for other guns, they are built for that gun. I bought a Galco, cause they had it at the store I was at. I haven't carried it alot, so dunno.

A SR may be a better fit, and take up less room in the pocket.

Seems the Mika is very popular. Do you guys not find them too bulky?

I haven't tried one but they do appear to have a lot more material than a leather pocket holster.

They're not too thick. And they're a lot better than any "hard" leather pocket holster I've tried. They're a little bulkier than the thin "suede" type holsters but they also stay in your pocket when you draw the gun. I won't buy any other pocket holster after getting my Mika(s). Only problem is that I had a black one and I fell into the Swift river in NH and the dye bled through the pocket of my khaki pants.

This photo gives a little better angle on how thick they are, or should I say, aren't. ;)

This next pic shows the area where Bob puts a thin, flexible, insert
between the layers that helps, immensely, with re-holstering.

I use a Blackhawk #3. It is relatively inexpensive and I bought one until I could decide on which "nice" one to buy. Well, that was over a year ago, and I still have the Blackhawk #3. Works well for me.

I rotate between a uncle mikes and a mika round cut. I wonder if I should have gotten the square cut instead. Think the square cut would look more like a wallet. I relize no one notices the lump in my pocket. Then again the butt is the only part that really prints differently than wallet would. I realize the gun prints a lot more looking down than it does from someone looking forward at me. Always in the search for something new
