Could I get some recommendations from the forum members on where to find a good leather belt?

I'm having a terrible time finding a belt on which to mount my own buckle (I'm new to owning S&W buckles, or any buckles for that matter)....a belt strong enough to carry an L or N frame in a full flap holster in the field...a belt that won't break the bank.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Google "The Beltman". Superior products and service.

Best,
Gary

I like the rafter gun belts.

Define "not breaking the bank". Trafalgar - any men's wear store can probably order one - produces some very nice belts. While meant as dress/general belts, they are of sufficient quality than one certainly can use them as a gun belt. I did for quite some time. They make a very nice alligator skin belt.

You might check lobogunleather.com. Lobo is active on the forum here. I recently got a pancake holster from him and is was well made (and was priced very reasonable). I have no experience with his belts, tho.

Gun Belts by The Belt Man

I carry a 5" full underlug N frame IWB and a steel .357 snub (Taurus 605) in the weakside front pocket, plus a reload for each gun and a NAA Black Widow in the other front pocket. That's about five pounds of hardware and that belt (1 3/4" dual layer bullhide) performs like a champ. FWIW, I'd be willing to bet Lobo could make you one that works just as well.

Filson in Seattle makes an excellent belt. They make a single thickness and a double thickness. They are a bit pricy but very good belts.

The absolute best "gun belt" for the money comes from personal friends, Bart and Lisa Looper of Looper Leather in OKC. They make a Kydex belt which looks like a standard leather casual belt, but it has a strip of Kydex sandwiched between the leather running the entire length of the belt. Not only is it an awesome belt, but depending on how "big" you are, they probably have your size in stock (if you wear an average joe size) and they are only around 40 bucks!

Give 'em a call and tell them Evan Lee sent you.

Thanks so much for all the great replies! I'll spend some time later today checking them all out. I'll definitely let you guys know what I end up going with.

I'm probably still going to buy another Kramer horsehide double thickness belt if I end up needing one. To need one, I'll have to lose weight, because they don't seem to wear out.

But they kind of do break the bank.

Try the Aker Concealed Carry Belt. Galls has them for around $45.

Again, thanks for all the great responces. After looking them all over I'm going with "the beltman", as recommended by K-22 and parallel. I'm ordering a brown bullhide 1.5" belt...it's exactly what I was looking for. 40 day wait sucks, and price was a little higher than I was figuring, but I have to remember quality and custom ain't cheap or fast.

I'll post pics of the whole rig when it's all done.
