I have the M&P .45c and M&P 9mm shield - I am not happy with the trigger pull and someone suggested trigger kits for them. I shot S&W 1911 - 9 mm today and really liked that trigger. I think it was 3.5 lb trigger pull. That is what I am looking for on my two guns. If you have knowledge in this area, your comments would be appreciated.

Maybe it's just me, but I am not convinced that a 3.5lb trigger on a carry gun is a great idea, even if it does have a manual safety.

I'm with LVSteve, 3.5 is a little low INHO for a CCW.

Apex has M&P kits that bring the trigger pull to about 5.5 for CCW.

3.5 for competition.

Maybe you have our infamous Mass. 10lb trigger!! :)

In any case check:

Welcome to Apex Tactical Specialties, Inc.

The DCAEK is great for the M&P, I alsom recommend the RAM kit.

Best of luck enjoy your M&Ps I am a huge fan of that platform!!

Yep, Apex is the place. I put their Hard Sear in my M&P 45 and it is an amazing difference. I'm extremely happy I did it.

Ok, I am getting the drift and thanks guys - I agree with all of you now about the 3.5 -- Not for carry. Thanks, I will look at Apex but if anyone else sees this and still has idea, please reply -- thanks again.

The Apex Sear is an excellent replacement for the M&P.I have one in all three of mine (9c,40c and 45 compact) as well as my 40 Shield. It makes a noticeable improvement in both trigger pull as well as reset.

While the Shield is advertised as 6.5 lb trigger, many ship with much harder triggers than that (excluding MA). S&W will do a free warranty trigger job that will bring the trigger down to around 6 lbs, as well as remove any burrs and smooth out the USB. After having that done to my Shield, the Apex kit hardly made any additional difference at all.

I think the included springs in the Apex kit for the Shield actually increase the trigger pull. After replacing the parts, if you reuse stock springs, trigger is around 4 or 4.5 lbs (IRC), and the springs included in the kit raise it back up to normal preferred carry range of around 5.5lbs (advertised).

Why not sell the M&Ps and buy the Smith 1911 you liked better?
