Red Dawn

There's no way they can make a decent remake of a classic like Red Dawn. Can't be done. It'd be like trying to remake True Grit or Casablanca or Wizard of Oz.
Well, not being a Patrick Swazye or Powers Booth fan I would respectfully disagree. The premise was good and thought provolking, but on the whole I thought the movie was pretty sophomoric in its' presentation. I would think a remake could be done a lot better-this movie was no "Casablanca" or "True Grit" or "Wizard of Oz"by any stretch of the imagination.

Okay, lets meet in the middle. I'd call it more of a cult classic movie rather than a regular classic movie . . . kind of like Kelly's Heros.

They could do a remake of Red Dawn with Obamas Brown Shirts invading West Virginia, Utah, Texas or any number of States that come to mind.

I have not been able to find my DVD of Red Dawn for several months.

Despite the low budget, and every other criticism of the movie, Red Dawn reaches out to many of us that grew up during that era of the cold war. It portrays the American spirit, family values, sacrifice for principles, and stimulated our thoughts on the subject of War in America.

I also learned the difference between us and them. And I will never forget the capital of Texas.

I'll go with that

Then check out "Canadian Bacon" staring John Candy, Rhea Pearlman, and Alan Alda.

You know who the director was for this movie? The answer may disappoint you, I still think it's funny though, especially when the geo metro falls apart before he can drive it over the falls.

Nobody cared to look it up? Or did you all already know?

For anyone that didn't know, Canadian Bacon was directed by Michael Moore.

I did not know that. It is still a funny movie, and I am glad that I didn't spend one dime to watch it.

I tend to think that the plot of the TV series Jericho or the current season of 24 is a more likely scenario. Terrorism from within our own country.

It's more likely that any assault made on the American people will be directed from Washington, D.C., not from over seas.

I highly doubt we would ever go to war with China for real. We would be doing it so Naked and Barefoot if you don't beleive me go to the store and look at the inside tongue of the shoe or the tag on the back of a shirt. I wonder in the new version of the movie if they will have a "re-habilition camp" the scene where Dean Stockwell's character is yelling "boys avenge me", in the background they had a projection screen with a movie playing and a narrator saying something like "America is a wh*rehouse where the ideilogies of your forefathers etc. etc." you know a "Commie Rant"

"...I would think a remake could be done a lot better-this movie was no "Casablanca" or "True Grit" or "Wizard of Oz"by any stretch of the imagination...."

Wasn't the Wizard of Oz the movie that started out in black and white and then went to color (new at the time)??

I was never a Patrick Swayze fan either, until I saw the class he displayed when he was selected to be the newest Chippendale dancer after a dance-off with Chris Farley.

Can't find a video that shows the selection after the dance-off. This is the best I can do.

Theatrical trailer for Red Dawn from that same site.

Leah Thompson....

I loved her in "All the Right Moves" as well...reminded me of my small town America, high school sweet heart, etc.

...and somebody was lucky enough to sit beside her at a restaurant....my wife would have been kicking me under the table

Danged sneaky Canadians . . . never did trust someone whose jaw was separated from the rest of his head . . . .
