Red dot for 357 magnum

Hello everyone, i decided to buy a red dot to put on my 686-3 competitor.
I found a very good deal on Bushnell red dot and i’m undecided between :
1) Bushnell Trophy 1x28 red dot with 6 M.O.A at a good price
2)Bushnell Trophy 1x28 multi dot (4 kinds, one 3 MOA, 10 MOA, Cross target and 3 MOA with perimeter circle)

Which one is better in your opinion ?

I think I have the option #2 one. I know its heavy. I tried putting it on a 5" revolver with a titanium cylinder AND it was still heavy.
For me, shooting for an hour and a half to two hours, anything above 49oz. Becomes a burden. Especially on my back, standing the whole time. I took it off and went with a vortex SparcII (those work good!). Most of my medium size revolvers have rails for those .
In a tube type, I only have one on a 6" 686. And it's a cheap millet sp1. It's made out of indestructium; I broke a Redhawk 44 magnum with it. Purchased two more. Broke those replacements and threw one in the trash. The original sp1 that I broke the Redhawk with sits on the 686 today. I dont know what I'll do if it ever does break.(maybe buy a matchdot)

The Bushnell Trophy with multiple dots will change point of impact when changing dots. I have two on air rifles and a friend with three and all do the same thing. The small dots are great but if you turn the knob you need to re-sight in. I had a Bushnell TRS-25 with a 3-mil dot on my 617 and it worked well but I finally replaced it with a Vortex Venom to match the one on my 686. The Vortex Venom (or Burris Fast Fire) on a Raptor mount makes a nice light and small package.

Adjustable MOA is always best. I have an Ultradot Matchdot I that I just keep on 4 MOA (it adjusts from 2 to 8 MOA).

When you change the dot size or change ammunition you will have to rezero the gun.

I wish i could buy an ultradot here �� i live in italy and they doesn’t ship outside us . The only think i’m not overly sure of is the size of the red dot, i hope is not too big in the end ! i will put it on the barrel rail of my Competitor

I'm more a fan of the small "heads up" red dots. That and the mounts you can get that allow it to sit very close to the bore. Various makers, Burris, Vortex, Leupold, Doctor, etc. are all very similar in size and function. Weight is a fraction of the larger tube type red dots. This is my 617-6 with a Burris FastFire2 mounted.

I also got proposed a Bushell 1x25 TRS (3 MOA) , that is a bit smaller then the 1x28 multi , i’m really undecided on what to do

I have used a Simmons with great results. Different brightness settings and 5 different MOA dots. I have not noticed a change in POI when changing MOA size

For hunting I do prefer the Ultradot but as you can see from my different revolvers, I have done various types. Tube type Aimpoint, Primary Arms, Ultradot and a Vortex Venom.

I topped my 327 with a Sig Romeo 4C. It has two reticle options. The red dot is a 2 MOA and then it also has the outer round circle w/the 2 MOA dot in the middle. It only weighs in at 3.4 oz. I shot eight shots last weekend a 25 yards using my 158 grain JSP with 12.3 grains of 2400. The were in a 3.5" group. These Romeo 4Cs have a lot of options other red dots don't. I recommend them. I see Sig is discontinuing them in favor of the Romeo 5 which is cheaper, but has half the bells and whistles of the 4C.
