Red Grips!

Hello! Awhile back, I saw a photo of an antique S&W revolver with red hard rubber grips. I tried, in vain, to conduct an advanced search of the forum and had no luck. Is anyone out there, with a S&W wearing red grips, willing to indulge my whims by showing a photograph of it? Also, is there such a thing as reproduction red 'gutta percha' grips? I think I've seen a couple sets of older repro red grips on Ebay before. I have two original sets. One is more of a brown mottle or mutted red and for a .32 Single Action. The other is very red and for a .32 Double Action. I'll try to attach a pic of the single action. If I get time tomorrow, I'll shoot a pic of the double action.

Here you go, S&W Single action No. 1 1/2 (New Model) .32 S&W. Roy told me that the red stocks were used on blued models and black on the nickle models. Since nickle was most popular back then, the red was not seen as frequently. I had heard that other colors have been seen, but I have never seen other colors.

The mottled red/black grips are the ones usually seen, however there are light blue/black, solid light blue, light green/black and solid light green and a light lemon yellow hard rubber S&W grips known to collectors. Jim King usually has examples of these on display at the annual S&WCA meetings. Ed.

When did S & W discontinue the various colors of Hard Rubber Stocks?

The Black HR Stocks continued ( either per request, or? ) up to WWII I think, for the Round Butt K Frame and smaller, yes?
