Red or green front?

I have a green fiber optic front sight on my 686ssr. At the IDPA match yesterday it seemed like anytime someone would shoot a gun with a red front FO sight it REALLY jumped out at me. Could it be that I might see red better than green?

The tubes are interchangeable so suit the user.
Use whatever you see best.
Most people, however, see green better.

I always used lime green inserts or florescent green FO but in my old(er) age and developing cataracts I've found I like florescent orange or red better.

I like orange best myself. Red is second choice. They say green is brighter. "They" can have 'em.

If you are red/green color blind, then maybe not.

Seriously, you will just have to try some different ones and see what YOU see best.

I put green on my 500 a few years back, lights up like a Christmas tree.

This is a decision that you will need to make for yourself, as every person will have a different preference. If possible, get out and shoot a gun with the green and one with the red FO on the same day. You might also want to try the same experiment on a day with different conditions (sunny versus cloudy day). One may be better in the sun while the other is better on a cloudy day.

That's totally up to you but also depends on your surroundings. If you go in to the woods with it as well you might don't want the green one. Perhaps you consider a gold bead gront sight?

It's said that your eyes pick up the green faster.

I solved that problem by having red on the rear and green on the front.

Red works best (for me) in good light, but if conditions are overcast/low light, then green is the clear choice... by far.
I usually just stick with green for all conditions.

I've got green currently on my M&P PRO, but the front sight is too high on it and it shoots 4-5" low off the bench at 20 yrds. Replacing it with a Dawson Precision of a shorter height to correct the zero. Dawson comes in red, but has interchangeable replacement colors. I guess this is something I will figure out too. I like the green, but may like the red too. Time will tell. It is an individual preference as far as I can tell.

The Dawson will come with both red & green light pipes. I've tried both colors, and still prefer red.
