This 1956 44 Magnum needs a red ramp insert. I know Brownells sells a kit for this but a friend told me he was disappointed in the color of the red plastic as compared with the factory original.

Should I just go with Brownells or are there better options? I want the color to look as close to the S&W Factory original as possible.

I am not much of a gunsmith so is this something I should tackle? Seems do-able.

As always, the expertise found on our forum is greatly appreciated!

Try Midway USA - I've replaced complete front sights with their red ramps several times. In each case I had Nelson Ford (in Phoenix) do the work quickly.

Your new retirement job!

Get some red RTV from your local auto parts store! Glob the stuff into the space and let it dry overnight. use a razor blade to clean up the "too much" stuff! It should look near perfect now use cold blue to touch up the surrounding area!

Pretty much the way it was originally installed. I doubt if red ramps were a factory option on you pistol!

If this doesn't work to your satisfaction, PM and I'll send you the original Brownell's kit, for postage!

Smiles,
