Do any of you guys use red dot sights on your revolvers. Thinking of putting one on my 617-6 6", I got old eyes.

For competitive shooting I use a red dot on my H S Victor and IZH35M, but I shoot my revolvers with iron sights as I don't use then in competition. I did put a red dot on a Mod 17 for a little bit, but didn't like the balance. I have not tried the newer smaller dot's like the Burris Fast Fire III or a J Point on a revolver yet and that may make a big difference. It is fact that the red dot does make hitting the target with "aging" eyes a lot easier. My eye's are 71 years old, and I would have given up competition probably 10 years ago without a red dot. I will say, since my cataract surgeries I do see the front sight much better than I had in years.

I've gotten much tighter groups after installing this red dot scope on my 617-6 but it makes the gun pretty top-heavy. I've kept the fixed sights if my eyes get better. Having cataract surgery soon. Right now, can't see so good.

I have a Burris Fastfire on a M17 and I love it! I'm going to try it on my 686 next. It's a very lightweight sight and tough! TC
