Hey guys,
Long time no see.I've been extremely busy with Cubscout functions the last bit.Guys I'm looking for any favorite reduced loads for the .243win for my son(he turns 9 on the 17th).I bought him Rossi Tri-fecta combo with the .243 barrel and am looking to work up some reduced loads in the 100 grain weight to get him trained on his birthday present over the summer before graduating to full power .243 loads out of the light little Rossi,he's a little guy,but he's all heart, any help would be appreciated.

Actually, I don't use SR 4759, but I do load Blue Dot with a 100 gr Remington Core-Lokt. Using 18.2 gr, a gong at 245 yards can be hit with boring regularity. The load also accounted for three deer this past season. #1 grandson got a nice 8 point and the neighbor's granddaughter shot two with the same load out of a 22" Handi Rifle.

I normally deburr the flash hole and neck size with a Lee collet die. The load will shoot 1 1/4" or better at 100 yards.

People have their doubts about these reduced loads, but here's a 3 shot 100 yard group shot by #1 son out of a 1965 M600 18.5" barrel in 6mm Rem.

Paul,
What kind of velocity and energy are you getting with the Bluedot charge, also are you using a handgun or rifle primer?I'm pretty sure by the grouping that it's more than adequate for eastern whitetail at under 100 yards.I have plenty of Bluedot on hand soo that's a plus.Paul you have my email adress [email protected] if you have anymore details on this load and I appreciate the response.
Thank you,

With clarification in mind, the primers are LR, usually CCI or Rem 9 1/2.

Here's another Blue Dot group at 100 yards, but this time it's with a .243 Handi rifle. I think the lower shots are .223, not .243.
