Our mail box fell victim to being mowed down July 4 th. Evening.I have it on camera Sent to S . O. With report. This is 3rd time since we moved in. 2.5 years ago. This is not by accident. We know who doing it.This time plastic mail box didn't make it. The steel pole base is fine. I ended up bulding a 3 and half foot square block around pole .470 pounds cement with re barb reinforcements.All I can say is hit this now it leave a mark.

I believe there is a law that mailboxes have to be able to be run over..
to limit personal injury ..

If you have proof call the post office and complain to them also ..

General USPS Requirements for Curbside Residential Mailboxes

All manufactured mailboxes must meet the internal and external dimension requirements of the USPS.
Curbside mailboxes must be placed on the right-hand side of the road and facing outward so that mail carriers can access it easily without leaving their vehicle.
The box or house number on a mailbox must be represented in numbers that are at least 1 inch tall, and they must be positioned on the front or flag side of the box.
Mailboxes must be placed 6 to 8 inches away from the curb; the slot or door must be 41 to 45 inches from the ground.
Curbside mailbox posts should be buried less than 24 inches deep and made from wood no larger than 4 inches high by 4 inches wide. Steel or aluminum pipes with a 2-inch diameter are also acceptable.
Newspaper receptacles may be mounted on the same post as the mailbox, but they must not contact it directly or be supported by it.

Edit -- Some states/cities also mandate Break Away Poles on certain roads and highways ..

This is exactly why I got rid of my roadside mailbox eleven years ago and got a post office box.

On Friday nights in the area I lived, the teenagers were really hard on mailboxes! As a kid, mom & dad went through maybe 3 in 6 years. An My farm house it got to be about 1 per month. I would always buy a spare at any yard sale I could. Then in about 1990 (6 years after moving in) I bought a large size mail-box made of heavy gauge steel, screwed and glued it to and marine plywood board that fit inside the bottom and attached it to the post with a spring loaded hinge. The kids would hit it at about 50MPH with a club or commonly a can of beer. IT would fly off the post 180 degrees to the left, then pop back into place. Eventually the spring broke, and the next morning I would flip it back in place manually. I at that point drove a "t" fence post about 2 feet down traffic from the box, it didn't show up in the headlights so well! I would hear the boys swing at the box but hit the post, usually ripping the ball bat or club from their hands. We moved almost 3 years ago, the new family still uses my box. But the have painted it bright orange so people won't "accidentally" hit it. That just made it a better target and the posts has been snapped off 2 or 3 times since I moved!

Some times the kids would take the boxes, and dump them in a pile at the stop sign. Since I seemed to be the first person awake in our neighborhood I would find the boxes and begin returning them. One guy about a mile from my house, gave me a hard time when I returned his box, so the next time I left it alone and returned the others, after a week I stopped and told him where I last saw it. He was still unappreciative, imagine that!

Glad I don’t have that problem...

Get your mailbox leveled or potentially kill or maim a stupid kid is not much of a choice.

I like Watchdog’s solution.
