Hi. I purchased some Sierra 300 gr jsp to reload with accurate #7. As I looked up the oal in my modern reloading book. As well as the lee die paperwork. I noticed for this bullet and powder combo that the Min oal was calling for 1.735. However, at the introduction page for the 44 magnum page it states the oal is1.610. The bullet has a cannelure. I made a test round to the 1.735 oal specs. It won't fit my Henry rifle. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

that load was probably meant for a revolver as you can often go a little long in a revolver

Several loads were also developed for the contender or single shot rifles that won't fit in other guns. Always check several manuals before trusting a load. Good luck and safe shooting.

The bullet was made to be seated to the cannelure and crimped. This heavy a bullet may not work in your rifle.

Seat it to the cannelure and crimp it there. The LEE data is just taken from somewhere else. Did they specify the exact bullet you are using?

If you still have problems call Sierra they are very very helpful.

I double checked the latest Sierra manual. 1.735 OAL listed. You have the length correct. I have found that some heavy bullets result in a longer than normal OAL. As noted above most revolvers will accept them. Evidently not the rifle.
