Reloading .45 ACP

I just purcahsed a 645-2 SW .45. I want to start reloading for it. I currently reload all my 642 38spl.+P and my Ruger GP100 in .357. I read in the Speer manual #14 that you can load small primers in the .45 but may lose a bit of accuracy. Do the primers seat OK and could I use SP Mag primers to compensate for the pressure loss by just using standard?or would I just be better off in trying to find Large Pistol primers? Currently I have 3K SP and SP Mag primers. Thanks for any insights!

I read in the Speer manual #14 that you can load small primers in the .45

I think it's referring to the cases marked "NT" or something like that. A normal .45 ACP takes a large primer and there isn't any way to use a small primer in them that I know of.

Thats what I thought Paul5388. Anyway, right after I posted this I went down to a local mom and pop gun/pawn shop where I find alot of misc. reloading equipment and he recieved in yesterday a limited quanity of every kind of primer. He sold his one and only brick of large primers. He charged me regular price (34.00) saying he does not want to gouge his customers. Like everyone else is doing. He thinks things are starting to loosen up and realizes customers have long memories.
In the last couple days I noticed that the local shops are getting more ammo and reloading supplies in. Maybe the end is in sight.

Several years ago, Federal(I think) came out with a 45acp round head stamped with NT for non-toxic. It was for use at in door ranges. This round will use the small pistol primer. They seem accurate enuf.

The normal 45acp round will use the LP primer.
