Reloading 9mm

I use W231 w/ 124gr lead or plated bullets in my target loads and Power Pistol with 115gr or 124gr jacket bullets for my high velocity stuff.

124 gr. plated or jacketed over unique or bullseye. I am working up some loads with blue dot too, but haven't had a chance to try them out yet.

Unique and Bullseye

Howdy,
I'm like the rest. I use Unique and Bullseye.
Bullseye for light steel plate loads and Unique for bowling pin loads.
We have a 9mm class at our pin matches w/7 pins set closer to the edge of the table than the 45's.
Good luck
Mike

My practice load is the old 3.5gn Bullseye under a 124gn cast RN bullet.

In the past, it has been 231 and a jacketed bullet. I just got a thousand plated bullets from Berry and will load them one of these days. I have never had much luck with lead in the 9mm.

I quit reloading 9mm back when ammo was cheap. I'd just buy a case, or a little more, each year, shoot it up and buy another. I am still shooting the last of those buys and some 100 round packs I bought at WallMart before the current ammo panic.

I have a quantity of 115 grain FMJs on hand and saved nearly all the brass from the cases I used to buy. So, even though I dislike loading the 9mm, I am going to have to start again sometime this year. I've used Bullseye in the past but I plan on loading Unique again this time.

4.7gr of Unique under a 124gr lead truncated flat nose Bear Valley moly bullet, WSP in a WW case. Low recoil, pleasant to shoot and accurate. Leaves some unburned powder on the shooting bench pad though.

I mostly use Zero or MGB 115 fmjs for IDPA. I have had excellent success with AA5 and Titegroup. Titegroup is very economical. But the AA5 meters so very well in the Dillon powder measure.

I use Alliant Power Pistol with a 115 gr. FMJ. I like Alliant American Select with a 125 gr. RNL bullet for a plinking load.

So there you go. Pick whatever powder/bullet combo you want or have, as many have had success with virtually anything you can choose. As long as you aren't shooting the 50 yd line for bullseye or ppc, likely it doesn't matter. Fortunately I have a STEN that takes care of any batch that doesn't meet my accuracy standard of the moment.

Try bumping your charge wt. just a bit, 4.8gr or 4.9gr. The moly coating is causing less friction/less pressure. I run 5gr under cast 124grLTC for 1150fps. WST is another good choice for light loads, much better than Bullseye for you "old timers" still using it, or TG for the newbs sucked into buying TG.

147 grain (Lyman) cast by a friend of a friend. 3.3 grains of Accurate #2 with OAL of 1.140". Around 900 fps out of a Glock 34. Plenty accurate out to 35 yds.

I like heavier bullets

Almost all of my 9mm bullets are in the 147gr range. Either Berry's or Ranier's plated bullets. I have used powders from Bullseye to Longshot with good success.

I am sold on Longshot for this caliber now as it gives the highest velocities with the least amount of pressure with these bullets. The recoil is more of a "push" than a "snap" and I like that too.

My loads mimic a 38spl to be honest. 147gr bullet going just over 1000fps would make a wonderful carry load. Not to mention the fact that most auto's carry more rounds than my M637.
