A slightly different kind of thread for all you reloaders.

I have been reading the crime/thriller series 'Jack Reacher' by Lee Child, the past few months and have yet to be disappointed.
So, when I saw that one of the books had been made into a movie, I grabbed the other half, bought two tickets and headed in the theatre door.

Back to reloading.

In the first few minutes the movie flashes between the scene of a sniper on station and the scene of a reloading bench and a posterior silhouette of a man prepping cases, dropping powder and working, what I believe is, an RCBS press.

The movie was well done and I recommend it.
I won't go beyond this for details but I think it will be my favorite, 'Reloading in the Movies' scene.

Has anyone else seen it?

Sounds like a waste of time!!!

Would rather watch snowflakes fall!!!

Why would a person waste time reading fiction, when there are so many really interesting biographies and autobiographies to read!

History is really interesting as well.

And you just might learn something.

OK, I give and I couldn't agree more, 'Tiny Tom' isn't my favorite.

No, not by a mile, BUT, the reloading scene, the one that made me think of this forum, the one with the close up of the caliper, the macro of the pwder drop and the case trimming, the pan of the reloading station and so forth is what I thought some here may enjoy seeing.

There was a Steven Seagal movie where he sits at a reloading bench and makes some super-dooper explosive rounds before he goes out to save the day (again). I think it was the one where he awakens from a coma(?), but I don't remember the details.

I have the books, but havn't read them yet. Currently reading a few authors (Lee Swagger series from the movie Shooter). I figure I'll watch the movie then read the books on Jack Reacher.

A work friend said they are awesome.

I have never been able to figure out why Tiny Tom has been so successful. He's not a good actor; looks are average; and he's a weirdo.

I've read a few of the Jack Reacher books. While well written and fast paced they are also poorly researched and full of Hollywood fabrications with zero resemblance to reality. They are also basically a rip off of John D. Macdonald's Travis McGee series.

If you want some originality I would suggest you take a look at Archer Mayors work, it's original, a bit quirky, and very well written AND researched.

I read both fiction and non-fiction. Some fiction has introduced me to some non-fiction subjects. I'd say you miss out on not reading both.

I have not seen the movie, and probably won't until it shows up at Red Box, but several reviews I have seen gave Tom Cruise top marks for his performance as Jack Reacher, even though he is not 6'5".

I've read a few "Reacher" novels, once Reachers invincibility was ingrained I lost interest.

I swore a solemn oath to never see anything with Tiny Tom. Talk about miscasting, 5'2 Tommy Twinkie playing 6'5 Reacher, what a joke!

I like Stephen Hunter and his knowledge of firearms.

I think I've learned more form reading fiction than non fiction.

Child openly admits to being heavily influenced by McDonald's Travis McGee series and pays homage to him more than once in the Reacher series. He even said he may stop at 21 Reacher books because of McDonald's same number of books before his death.

George Clooneys "The American" He is working on a gun for half the movie. Dont remember if hes making custom ammo as well though...

Not in the movies, but still - video game Fallout 3 New Vegas has an option for a character to reload his/her own ammunition. They even differentiate between primer types :)

Anyone that follows the novels knows casting Cruise as Reacher is a joke. For those not familiar w/ the novels, it's a Mission Impossible movie to most. I love the novels, won't pay to see the movie. I'ld laugh everytime 5'-6" Cruise kicks some guys ***.
