Tony, thanks for the reminder. I usually remember but since I moved from the last home of Davy Crockett I don't hear as much about it. growing up in Rutherford, TN I, as everyone else heard about Davy all our lives. they dedicated a replica of his last home on the school grounds when I was in the first grade(1956)(yes, I'm old). his mother's grave was moved from her farm west of town to the cabin grounds. if anyone is traveling thru northwest TN from Memorial day to Labor Day weekend and the first full week of October, you should stop and visit the cabin and grounds. in the cabin there is a replica cabin I built over 20 years ago. Some of my Wife’s relatives were traveling around and came through San Antonio.
So they came by our house early one morning for coffee.
As we were chatting, they told me we’re headed to the Alamo.
What Street is it on? I had been there a number of times, but didn’t recall the street.
Grabbed a Map. Oh! It’s on Alamo St!
Now you know why I had to leave Texas.
I forgot the Alamo!

We lived in Texas in the 90's and would go to San Antonio for various reasons, mostly pleasure. Being in the Alamo gives one a shiver up the spine. A mission turned into a fort.

Remember the Alamo.

More teaching of US history and the price that many brave folks paid is sorely needed.

Thanks for reminding me.Town in Tn I live in has a monument at the courthouse with the name and war county residents died in.There are two cousins from my county that died at the Alamo. They were also cousins of Sam Houston he is said to have talked them into going to Texas.
