Remembering “Crazy Phil”

I bought this 65-3 from a good friend over the weekend and decided to carry it for the next few weeks.
Looking around in my holster bin I came up with this nice little scabbard from Lefty Lewis. It came to me from the same friend that the 65-3 did. And he had bought it from Crazy Phil years back.
So here’s to Crazy Phil!

I think of Crazy Phil on occasion, in the last week as an example. One of his K Frame holsters has ended up being my favorite. I often smile while slipping the holster on.

I tip my hat in appreciation…. and I figure he like to see a good holster being used. Wish he was here to see it.

I bought several holsters and his book from him. He was local to me and I sat in his house and had some nice conversations with him more than once. He was a good man.

Crazy Phil was a really good guy! I bought his book and a really nice holster from him when he was selling off his collection. I talked to him on the phone on a few occasions too. He is definitely missed! Here is the holster that I bought from him. It is a Heiser Model 713 Holster for a Colt Official Police with a 4" barrel.

Just saw this post. I had many a phone conversation with Phil. He taught me a lot. Of course, I have an autographed copy of his book. I think of him quite often, never got the chance to drive the 400 miles or so to see him.

I liked him a lot, too. Bought several of his holsters. Most of them have moved on, but I enjoyed them while I had them. Was one of the lucky winners of his karma giveaway of his book.

Rest in peace.
