I've got a 512 knocking around the gun safe... may try to find some peep sights for it and shoot it more often. Great action and trigger on the old girl, but the sights suck.

My first gun was a Remington 510. I got it for Christmas 1953.
It is pretty well ruined now due to being submerged in saltwater due to Katrina in 2005 :( .

I still have it. :) :).

I have a 511 I bought a year or so ago for $70. It was in rough shape. Bolt handle was loose where it joins the bolt body. A scope mount was poorly attached with mismatched out of line screws and shims.

Removed bolt handle and cleaned up the hole in body for it, turned a new round piece to fit snug in slightly larger hole and made a new cross pin. Cut off old knob from original handle, drilled it and silver soldered it on new round piece and bent it to about the right angle. Now had a decent bolt handle.. Filled the holes in receiver as best I could with epoxied in screws and filed and sanded them smooth. Milled cuts in sides of receiver for claw type 22 scope mounts and installed an old 4x Redfield I had. Cut the barrel down to 18" and have an accurate handy little 22 for the girls.

Good lookin' rifles Shutzen-Jager. Those would be more enjoyable to me to use than a 10/22.

Ooo ... did I say that?

I love the Remington five teens. Among the .22 rifles on hand are Models 510, 511, and 512.

I just used a Model 510 last Saturday to take a pig snack. Was suppose to be duck hunting, but took an afternoon break for a hike.

The Model 510 here was made in September of 1946 and is worn and homely, but it sure is accurate.
