Ain't she pretty? Normally, I wouldn't give something that looks like this a second look. On the third look, I gave it a good shake, twisted on the buttstock a bit and found that despite the cosmetics it was a really tight rifle. I then disassembled it and was further surprised that the internals were like new. Even the bore was as bright as the day it was made. So for a mere 150 bucks, it is now mine. 22 s,l,lr and the date code indicates April of 1930.

welll done... my father had a 12A that my big brother inherited, so I had a tribute created from one I found at a friend's table at a gun show.. someone cleaned it up with steel wool... ugly... gunsmith buddy restored it...

Nice find on that one, looks like a 12C with that barrel and buttplate. I have a similar vintage 12A that a neighbor inherited from his dad but didn't want it. Lucky for me!

Here it is (bottom) with a couple other vintage pumps, a 1914 model Savage and an 06 Winchester.

Took one of the early 12C's to Alaska when I ran away from home at age 16. Shot a lot of snowshoe hares, grouse and even a few fish with it while there. One of Petersen's better designs. My Father-in -law only had one 22 rifle in his life and it was a model 12A. Spent his youth in the depression on a dry land farm on the eastern plains of Colorado shooting jackrabbits and ravens. Neet design but a word of wisdom, after shooting several truckloads of high speed ammo, I found out that these were not to be used with high speed ammo but only standard velocity. Who knew?
