I see where Midway has thunderbolt 22 in stock for $29.99 per 500. From what I have read on this form about this ammo I think I will pass. I have a good supply of 22 but someone may be interested.

There seems to be quite a few places pushing Rem Thunderbolt .22 this week.

A few years ago I put together a Ruger 10-22 with an Adams & Bennett barrel and stock, and tricked out internals, trigger group and all that. Did a head-to-head test one day at the range with about 1/2 dozen different kinds of ammo including Eley Ten-X, Federal Match, and some other expensive target grade ammo. The dang thing shot Remington Thunderbolts into a significantly smaller group than anything else I tried. Go figure.

Maybe Rem. changed the powder?

They did not shoot worth a hoot in any of my 22 rifles, bolt, auto or pump.

+! for hand them to the GKids................

They work well in my pistols, but they require more cleanup, more frequently, as they are very dirty.

Okay for revolvers and single shot rifles. Doesn't cycle my semi autos except the 15-22. It will eat them with the occasional failure to fire or to extract.

It's not worth the headaches unless it's all you can find.

Let me rephrase that . . it does beat Winchester white box.

And . . . the worst ammo experience I've had recently has been with one of those sealed aluminum cans of Federal. We've been using them in the revolver, and we've had more "dud" rounds than I've ever seen with anything. Sometimes half the cylinder fails to fire. A small percentage will fire on second strike. Most will not.

I've just about sworn off both Federal and Winchester (.22lr only) for good.
